Winnipeg Volleyball Academy
Follow us on

We are a non-profit volleyball club based out of Winnipeg, but many of our athletes also come from surrounding areas.

We created the Blazers Volleyball Academy (formerly Winnipeg Volleyball Academy) in the Spring of 2021 to offer a new approach for volleyball clubs in Manitoba - focused on respect; inclusivity; transparency; and empowering our athletes to become leaders. We believe strongly that lessons with us will help our athletes on the court, and beyond the court.

We believe our athletes become their best when we offer our best to them. We provide high-level technical training in an inclusive and respectful way - encouraging personal growth, development, teamwork, and a passion for the game of volleyball. We even offer mentorship opportunities for select athletes in the form of junior coaching roles with our WVA programs.

We offer:

  • Camps for youth at various times throughout the year;
  • BLAZERS Club Volleyball program from January - May of each year; and
  • BLAZERS Beach Volleyball during the spring/summer months.

We're committed to:

  • Providing fun and competitive training in an inclusive, respectful and safe environment.
  • Encouraging athletes to support each other as they refine their skills.
  • Mentoring and developing solid volleyball and leadership skills that will help on and beyond the court.

We believe in:

  • Consistency - with coaching, schedules and venues whenever possible.
  • Transparency - through our communication with parents and athletes.
  • Accountability - registering all athletes with Volleyball Manitoba; registering coaches with Volleyball Manitoba; and screening our coaches under its guidance.

OUR MISSION is to help our athletes develop their skills as both athletes and as leaders, in a supportive; inclusive; safe; and positive environment; in line with the values and goals of Volleyball Manitoba and Volleyball Canada.

There are four of us who oversee all aspects of the BLAZERS volleyball program.

  • Estelle Boucher - President
  • Tanya Swanson - Director of Business Development
  • Ruben Cervantes - Director of Operations
  • Kristi Baily - Communications Director

We are very different people, and each of us bring a different skill-set to the BLAZERS. We work closely as a team to run these programs, and sincerely have the best interests of our athletes as our primary focus. We work with the goal of making our athletes' volleyball experience a highlight in the memories of their youth.
